Fillings
Dental fillings are one of the most common procedures performed in today’s dentistry. While we focus on preventing decay and disease from striking, it can still sneak its way into a tooth. Stopping decay before it spreads and creates a larger problem is essential, and that’s where fillings come in.
When decay is detected in a tooth, we’ll remove the affected portion and fill the hole with a tooth-colored composite resin. Once cured, the dental filling is durable and functional, and you’ll regain full use of your teeth. You can eat, drink and talk as you’re used to, but without the pain caused by a cavity. The restoration can be completed in a single visit, and the whole process is simple. Don’t let cavities control your smile.
Porcelain Inlays/Onlays
Patients who’ve experienced moderate amounts of decay, or have a large cavity that can’t accept a traditional composite filling can opt for porcelain inlay or onlay restorations. We recommend these restorations as they actually strengthen the integrity of the tooth when compared to a composite filling.
Inlays and onlays are custom-created from high-quality porcelain, and due to their strength and durability, a tooth restored with an onlay or inlay doesn’t require a dental crown for support. Inlays sit on the interior biting surface of the tooth, and fit up to the cusps, while onlays extend over the cusps and onto the exterior of the tooth. If a traditional composite filling isn’t right for you, there are still options.
Crowns/Bridges
When teeth become weakened from decay and disease, or need additional support after receiving endodontic (root canal) therapy, a dental crown is recommended. Crowns customized tooth-shaped “caps” that fit over your natural tooth. Dental crowns cover the exposed surface of the tooth above the gum line, and restore your natural shape and size, blending in seamlessly with your existing smile. We’ll match the shade of your teeth and ensure your restoration looks completely realistic.
We also use crowns to anchor dental bridges, which are just one replacement option for patients who have lost some of their natural teeth. Bridges are a fixed prosthetic, held in place by a dental crown bonded to the healthy teeth on each side of the gap created by the teeth that are missing. Whether it’s a series of teeth or a single tooth being replaced, we’ll ensure the artificial teeth are a perfect match for your smile, and the entire restoration will look as great as it’ll feel to have a complete smile again. Our crowns and bridges are entirely metal-free.
Partials/Dentures
Are you missing teeth? If you’ve lost some, or even all, of your natural teeth, you may consider dentures as a viable restoration for your smile. Partial dentures are great for patients who have some healthy teeth remaining. Partials are removable, and are held in place by clasps.
Full dentures replace an entire arch of teeth -upper, lower, or both- and use natural suction to secure them. Our prosthetics are made of the highest-quality materials with superior craftsmanship. Your complete new smile will look totally natural, and we ensure a comfortable, accurate fit. We also offer implant-retained dentures! Ask about our options today.
Implants
If you want the closest tooth replacement option for teeth you have lost, we recommend dental implants. Implants promote your oral health by acting as a root structure in the jaw bone, which prevents atrophy, and stops healthy teeth from shifting. Dr. Archibald both places and restores your dental implants, crafting a beautiful new dental crown to sit atop a surgically-implanted post.
In addition to traditional implants, we offer mini-implants which are great for patients with low bone density, or who require a smaller tooth replaced. And for full-mouth replacements, we provide implant-retained dentures for a more secure fit, and All-on-4 fixed prosthetics which anchor a full arch of teeth using as little as 4 strategically placed dental implants. You deserve a complete, natural-looking smile. Ask us how dental implants make it possible!
Endodontics
The term “root canal” can make some patients cringe. However, it’s more about perception than actual discomfort. The treatment has gotten a bad reputation, but that’s because those patients have never had endodontic therapy at Park Street Dental Clinic. When a tooth becomes infected, it can abscess, causing major discomfort and pain. To save your natural tooth, we’ll perform a root canal and remove the infection.
We complete all endodontic treatments right in our office, so you can relax and have the team you trust in charge of your care. We’ll determine if additional support is needed with a dental crown, and ensure the entire restoration is durable and functional.
Oral Surgery
While we’ll do everything we can to save a natural tooth, in some cases, extraction may be necessary. Don’t worry, though! If it’s determined that a tooth must be removed, we’ll happily refer you to a skilled specialist whom we respect and trust to handle your extraction. Whether its major surgery, a minor extraction, or wisdom teeth removal, we’ll help you find the appropriate specialist to perform your procedure.
